Tiles are made by recasting natural basalt and pouring it usually into metallic forms.
Tiles produced in such a way have great properties, due to which they are used in industrial
operations, mechanically or chemically strained. However, they are also used for their attractive
and unusual appearance in aesthetically demanding areas. The range of tiles includes
smooth and anti-slid surfaces, socle tiles called L-pieces and atypically shaped tiles.
The colour shade of tiles is given by the character of the natural material and cannot be changed or stained. It should be
emphasized that as regards to appearance, each tile is an original.
Main physical properties of this material:
- -non-absorptivity
- -frost resistance
- -high abrasion resistance
- -environmental and hygienic safety
- -chemical resistance
- -high compression strength
- -Mohs hardness at least 8. degree
- -high durability under the most demanding conditions
- -parameters of each value in Catalogue sheet E-01
Industrial tiles
In industry, they include e.g. factory halls, storage areas and shipment areas, breweries, food industry
operations, chemical operations, mining, car repairs, car washes, battery factories, etc.
Interior tiles
Interior and exterior tiles are used in residential areas, as flooring in family houses,
restaurants, wine bars, discotheques, stores, show rooms, atria, monuments,
historical buildings, wine cellars, hobby work-rooms, for terraces, archways and pavements, etc.
Anti-skid tiles
It is necessary to also mention anti-skid basalt tiles for industrial and exterior usage,
mainly in wet and slippery operations, for steep platforms or pavements.
Variable tiles
To revitalize the pattern of basalt floors, we have prepared together with Mr. Renger – the author of the design of these
tiles – a selection of variable tiles
THALES in types
Alfa,
Beta, Gama, Delta and Omega. Using these types and their combination creates a great variety of patterns – mosaics.
Due to their unusual shapes and variability of composition, they are suitable for exclusive interiors, e.g. for use in garden
architecture. To supplement these patterns, it is possible to use in some mosaic types e.g. green glass or other
materials (wood,...). If you request supply of this type of tiles, please contact
Stone Trade s.r.o., which is the sole vendor of this product range.
Atypical tiles
These include e.g. SKID-PAN tiles, used by all important world car producers
and major producers of tyres to perform tests of cars and tyres on testing
tracks – polygons, where these tiles imitate an icy surface.
Reverse side of tiles
Basalt tiles are produced with three basic types of reverse side:
- With
rough grooving - i.e. a rough raster, marking = R
- With
fine grooving - i.e. fine raster, marking = JR
- Without raster - i.e. smooth tiles, marking = H
R - Tiles with a rough raster
are used for laying in a bed of wet concrete mixture or they
may be glued with cement similarly as ceramic
tiles on a prepared, well-cleaned, mature and consistent concrete base.
JR - Tiles with a mild raster are used for glueing with
cement as ceramic tiles on a prepared, well-cleaned, mature and consistent
concrete base. It is more appropriate to use this raster during the use of special glues and cements,
e.g. in chemical operation, in order to reduce the quantity of required glue.
H - Smooth tiles are used very
rarely and mainly for special use, when absolutely minimal quantity and thickness
of base glue is required as well
as its minimal consumption. Standard production includes raster
tiles with grooves R and JR.
